As the tires cross that transition, the position of the front bumper, underside, and rear overhang changes relative to the ground. A low vehicle may make contact even when another car uses the same entrance without scraping.

Ground clearance is only part of the fit assessment. Front and rear overhang, suspension changes, the curb shape, and the driveway slope also matter. A vehicle model name or another owner’s successful installation does not establish clearance at your driveway.

1. Curb profile and available space

Measure the curb rise and the available front-to-back space at several points along the entrance. Compare the shape of the curb with the ramp profile. Smooth Curb measures 17 inches front to back and 3 inches high; those dimensions alone do not establish that it fits a particular curb height or shape. 2. Assembly and handling

The three sections connect using the supplied bolts and nuts. Our published installation estimate is usually less than 15 minutes with two people; actual time depends on preparation, handling, and placement. The complete system weighs 128 pounds, so plan for two-person handling of the heavy rubber sections. Follow the installation instructions, secure the connections, and check the final position. Disconnect the bolts before relocating the sections for maintenance.

3. Coverage along the curb

The standard three-piece system spans 12 feet, or 144 inches, along the curb. Measure the area your tires cross when entering and leaving, including turns. Each additional center extension adds 4 feet of coverage. Extensions increase the span along the curb; the ramp remains 17 inches deep and 3 inches high.

4. Material and maintenance

Smooth Curb is made from 100% recycled rubber. Inspect the ramp’s placement and connecting hardware during routine maintenance, and follow the product instructions when moving the sections. Material and weight are useful specifications to compare, but they do not guarantee that a ramp will remain correctly positioned in every installation.

5. Placement requirements

Check applicable placement requirements with your municipality, HOA, or property owner before installing a ramp, especially where the curb or gutter is part of shared or public space. A removable driveway ramp does not automatically establish permission, and an accessibility claim does not determine HOA approval.

6. Drainage and gutter access

Smooth Curb has a built-in channel that provides a path for gutter water beneath the ramp. Check how it lines up with your gutter and keep the channel and surrounding area clear of leaves and sediment. Observe drainage after installation; the presence of a channel does not guarantee that water will flow freely under every curb or debris condition.

7. Clearance for your actual vehicle

Assess the car as you use it, including changes to ride height, suspension, wheels, or bodywork. Check the front lip, underside, and rear overhang in relation to the entrance and tire path. 8. Rated capacity and purchase terms

Smooth Curb’s published load rating is up to 32,000 pounds. A load rating describes a different consideration from vehicle clearance and curb compatibility; it does not guarantee that a low car will avoid contact. The system carries a 3-year limited warranty.
